Super-Cube

Super-Cube® Leadership Model

Africa’s first empirically validated, human-centric leadership framework.

1. WHY

UN Sustainable Development Goals

We have social, economic and environmental issues which require urgent attention.

Based on the current situation, it seems reasonable to suggest that the past and present approaches concerning leadership development are not building the necessary leadership skills.

2. HOW

Nelson Mandela
"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world."

— Nelson Mandela

"We cannot solve the problems we face today with the same thinking we used when we created them."

— Albert Einstein

3. WHAT

Super-Cube®

Super-Cube® is doctoral leadership model: a theoretically-relevant and empirically-validated approach concerning leadership and leadership development.

Our approach provides the most reliable, rigorous and comprehensive form of scientific and practical knowledge in which the human thought process is amplified in a logical and objective way. Our goal is to accelerate leadership development.

The Super-Cube® Leadership Development Model

The Super-Cube® is a multidimensional, human-centric leadership skills development model developed by Dr. Craig R. Muller. It integrates six core constructs — Choices, Principles, Mental, Emotional, Physical, and Spiritual — into a cubic framework with “you” (the leader) at the centre.

Empirically tested and validated through confirmatory factor analysis in African FMCG business-networks, the model bridges traditional and contemporary leadership theories to accelerate leadership capacity at scale across the continent.

The African Leadership Challenge

Africa’s combined GDP is projected to be among the fastest growing on earth over the next two decades. The majority of African homes will enter the consumer class, yet organisations face immense complexity: transformational population growth, an abundance of talent but a severe shortage of leadership skills, relatively few large companies, poorly understood business environments, conflict, poverty and corruption (Muller & Pelser, SAJEMS 2022; Leke et al., 2018; World Economic Forum Global Competitiveness Report 2023).

Traditional leadership development programmes built on questionable assumptions have failed to build the necessary capacity (Cohen 2019; Eberly et al. 2013). African FMCG businesses in particular require a new, contextually relevant approach that develops leadership at scale — not just for individuals, but for entire business networks and communities.

Why Super-Cube® Accelerates Leadership Development in Africa

Super-Cube® was purpose-built for Africa. It is the first empirically validated model that directly addresses the continent’s unique leadership gap by combining six human-centric constructs into a holistic framework.

Rooted in Buber’s I-Thou philosophy (recognising every person as an equal “Thou” rather than an object) and Ubuntu (“I am because we are”), the model creates leadership that is relational, community-driven and ethically grounded — exactly what Africa needs.

How it works: Leaders develop all six dimensions simultaneously through structured programmes, on-the-job experience and reflective practice. The cube structure ensures no dimension is developed in isolation.

What it delivers: >35% improvement in leadership capabilities, measurable on-chain impact, and sustainable business networks that create jobs, feed communities and drive ethical growth (Muller & Pelser, JCM 2022; SAJEMS 2022).

The Six Constructs

Choices

1. Choices

"The history of free man is never written by chance, but by choice, their choice."

— Dwight D. Eisenhower

Construct Overview

The Choices construct focuses on moral values, decision-making intelligence, judgement, and risk-taking. Grounded in choice theory, it equips leaders to evaluate options consistently and choose actions that serve humanity. In Africa, where corruption, poverty, and rapid change create constant high-stakes decisions, Super-Cube® develops ethical judgement and calculated risk-taking — critical because poor choices destroy trust and sustainable business networks.

Course Overview

This programme develops moral decision-making intelligence. Learners master identifying the components of moral problems, understanding corruption drivers, and applying proven ethical frameworks (Utilitarian, Rights, Justice, Common Good, Virtue principles).

Key Skills to be Developed

  • Moral reasoning & judgement
  • Corruption risk analysis
  • Ethical code application
  • Contextual decision-making
  • Personal values alignment

Course results

Choices improved by 26.6%

Leaders now make dramatically more ethical and effective decisions in high-stakes African environments — slashing corruption risk and building unbreakable trust across supply chains and communities.

Why this course is powerful in the African context

In environments where corruption and rapid change create constant ethical dilemmas, this construct builds the principled backbone leaders need to create trustworthy business networks and sustainable growth across the continent.

Principles

2. Principles

"You must be the change you wish to see in the world."

— Mahatma Gandhi

Construct Overview

The Principles construct provides the foundation of ethics, governance, context, and standards. It draws from principle theory and is deeply rooted in Ubuntu (“I am because we are”) and Buber’s I-Thou philosophy of mutual respect. In Africa’s complex FMCG environment, where corruption and institutional weaknesses are prevalent, this construct ensures leaders act with integrity and accountability.

Course Overview

Leaders learn that principles are natural, impersonal laws that govern consequences. The course focuses on aligning personal and organisational values with ethical governance and building strong codes of conduct.

Key Skills to be Developed

  • Corporate ethics implementation
  • Value-principle alignment
  • Ethical governance
  • Strengthening organisational culture
  • Code of conduct development

Course results

Principles improved by 45.1%

The largest gain across all constructs — leaders now operate from a rock-solid ethical foundation, creating resilient organisations that withstand corruption and build long-term trust in Africa’s complex markets.

Why this course is powerful in the African context

With weak institutions and high corruption risk, leaders who anchor in universal principles create resilient, trustworthy organisations rooted in Ubuntu values.

Mental

3. Mental (Cognitive)

"Imagination is more important than knowledge. Memory is past. It's finite. Vision is future. It's infinite."

— Albert Einstein

Construct Overview

The Mental construct develops cognitive intelligence, strategic thinking, problem-solving, vision, and continuous learning. Supported by cognition theory, it enables leaders to process complexity and innovate. Africa faces multidimensional issues — population growth, infrastructure gaps, climate shocks — and a severe skills shortage despite abundant talent.

Africa has an abundance of talent but a severe leadership skills gap. This construct equips leaders to navigate complexity, rapid growth and multidimensional challenges with clarity and strategic vision.

Emotional

4. Emotional

"One of the most difficult things to give away is kindness, for its often returned."

— Mark Ortman

Construct Overview

The Emotional construct focuses on emotional intelligence, empathy, motivation, and social skills. Based on the four-branch ability model, it develops the ability to perceive, use, understand, and manage emotions. Leadership in Africa is highly relational; teams and communities thrive on trust and connection.

Course Overview

Participants develop deep emotional intelligence across self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy and social skills for stronger relationships and leadership impact.

Key Skills to be Developed

  • Emotional self-management
  • Empathy & social skills
  • Motivation techniques
  • Interpersonal competence

Physical

5. Physical

"Take care of your body, its the only place you have to live."

— Jim Rohn

Construct Overview

The Physical construct emphasises bodily well-being, energy management, fitness, nutrition, and resilience. It is grounded in the Wheel of Wellness theory. African leaders operate under extreme pressure from rapid growth and resource constraints. Super-Cube® develops the physical foundation needed to prevent burnout and sustain long-term impact.
